February
For the release of Friendly Dog Neoangin makes his first and so far only music video. They film for one week and yet it still looks amateurish. Neoangin is confronted with the realization that his mantra „little input great effect“ does not get him anywhere when it comes to the medium film.
March
Neoangin comes to realize that a cd production with a label is very different from his own releases. Even though the songs are already done in February the album won’t be released until the Summer. There are the photo shoots, press campaign, interviews,... deciding on a sequence of the songs already takes weeks, everything detail is thought of. Jim enters a confusing yet fascinating world.
April
Too bad that Jim already booked the tour for the new cd and which will take place 2 months prior to the release. From the very beginning luck is not on his side. His laptop gets stolen during the first gig (münster /lunabar) in a tiny club; this is particularly tragic since with this theft the entire data for a soon to be published book was lost, and Avignon was made aware that not everybody who attends his shows is nice. Already mentally weakened by this new awareness he has a fever by the second evening, which turns into pneumonia on the third evening (luzern/fumetto festival). Distressed he cancels the remainder of the tour which was supposed to be his biggest success and goes home alone on the train.
Nova Huta and DJ Julius Nerdinger don’t give up and go on without Neoangin. Equipped with masks and stage sets Nova Huta performs fake Neoangin shows. Many people don’t even notice the scam.
June
Thanks to his label WONDER’s excellent PR work numerous articles and interviews accompany the release of Friendly Dog. 2-page stories in Intro and Spex, viva 1, arte tracks. mtv even films his gigs. Yet Neoangin does not recuperate from his illness all Summer long and thus has to perform many shows with a cold or no vocals at all.
July
Conveniently enough ICA London invites Neoangin to write a new soundtrack for the silent movie „Symphony of a great city“! On top of that Neoangin gets the assignment to write the score for the Ödon von Horvarth play „Kasimir and Karoline“ for a theater in Jena, Germany. A very thrilled Neoangin invests his entire money in an even bigger one-man-entertainer-keyboard.
November
Neoangin goes on a Germany tour with the successful rock duo Stereo Total. A good opportunity to finally check out the medium-big sized stages in Germany.
December
Media artist Thalhofer asks Jim Avignon for his assistance in a media project about alcohol. Avigon proposes to down a glass of vodka after each song until he passes out-- during on of his shows. What’s said is done. After 24 songs Neoangin is carried off the stage. Fortunately he cannot remember anything but then again the whole thing is on film.
